Banjo playin’

In an earlier post, I shared with everyone my new endeavor: learning to play the banjo. I’m having a lot of fun with it, and have learned quite a bit already. I’ve only begun, of course, but I thought I’d make good on my promise to share some of my progress with you.

The following is a video I recorded earlier today of me playing Wildwood Flower. While it was so cold on Thursday, I spent a few hours learning how to play the tune and have continued to work on refining my playing of it yesterday and this morning. It’s not perfect, I know, but I’m happy with it for now.

That was great! Congrats! I'm hoping to get a guitar in the next few months, and intend to teach myself how to play. Your banjo looks like a lot of fun!

Good job! Better than TV for sure! Thanks for sharing!

Rina ... also Chester or Daisysmum.

Thank you I loved your playing. It takes me back to the good old days listening to my father playing his banjo. I hope you will add more videos as you go along.

Amazed at your crop of sweet potatoes and the cellar. Do most home have cellars like that.
BTW Nice meeting you.

Thanks for stopping by, Rina. I've now had the banjo for two months, and I will be recording more videos. It's a lot of fun.

I've not seen any homes with a cellar like what we're building. It just seemed like a good idea and very practical. I'm looking forward to using it this year.

We've had good success with sweet potatoes. They grow well and an easy crop. That, and they're good to eat!

Great job with the banjo! Sounds like a lot of fun.

Sounds pretty good!!!!! I am learning how to play the banjo too. It is a finger twister for me.

Blacksmith, I'm enjoying playing the banjo. Of course, with summer upon us, I find much less time to play/practice. I've not tried finger-picking, just clawhammer/frailing.
